On the morning of Thursday 7 July 2005 as the rush hour drew to a close, four suicide bombers made a coordinated attack on the transport system of central London, killing 52 innocent people and injuring more than 770.

Two years after these horrific events occurred, members of the bereaved families’ group, 
 The Department of Culture Media and Sport and The Royal Parks formed a Project Board to create a memorial commemorating the fifty-two innocent victims.

The memorial was design by the architects Kevin Carmody and Andrew Groarke and were provided advice at key stages of the design process including Antony Gormley, as artistic advisor, and Phil Baines, who designed the lettering for the memorial.

Dans la matinée du Jeudi 7 Juillet 2005, quatre kamikazes ont fait une attaque coordonnée sur le système de transport du centre de Londres, tuant 52 innocents et en blessant plus de 770.

Deux ans après ces terribles événements, les membres des familles endeuillées, Le ministère de la Culture, des Médias et du Sport et Le Royal Parks ont décidés de créer un mémorial commémorant les cinquante-deux victimes innocentes.

Le mémorial a été conçu par les architectes Kevin Carmody et Andrew Groarke. L’artiste Antony Gormley y a collaboré, en tant que conseiller artistique, et Phil Baines a conçu le lettrage.
