Gugging

The house of artists belongs to the community of Gugging, close to Vienna, Austria.
It has been housing the Gugging Artists, who have gained a worldwide reputation due to the high quality of their drawings, paintings, writings and objects. They count among the most important representatives in the artistic field of Art Brut.
Due to the chronic psychiatric illnesses and mental disabilities of its inhabitants, the House is structured as a social care centre.

Started in 1981 by Doctor Leo Navratil (1921-2006), Doctor Johann Feilacher has been in charged of the House of Artists since 1986. Doctor Feilacher considers this place as a Centre for Art and Psychotherapy. Considering patients as artists in their own right, he quickened their recognition on the art market, particularly in places and collections devoted to Art brut.

Gugging

La Maison des Artistes est un lieu de création artistique pour personnes atteintes de troubles psychiatriques, situé à Gugging près de Vienne en Autriche.

Crée en marge de la Clinique psychiatrique de Gugging en 1981 par le Docteur Leo Navratil (1921-2006) et repris en 1986 par le Docteur Johann Feilacher. Docteur Feilacher appelle ce lieu Centre pour l’Art et la Psychothérapie. Considérant ses patients comme des artistes à part entière, il accéléra leur reconnaissance sur le Marché de l’art, particulièrement dans les lieux et collections consacrés à l’Art brut.
